Weighing in at up to 4,400lbs, walruses are found in the Arctic Circle in shallow waters. Walruses are pinnipeds - meaning they have both front and rear flippers. Walruses are easily identified by their large shape, greyish-brown skin, and their notorious tusks - which are present in both male and female walruses. Although they look awkward on land, walruses are agile in the water and can stay submerged for up to ten minutes. Walruses are very social creatures, and it is very rare to find a walrus by itself.
